Something I Just Had To Do

When the opportunity to purchase a Child Care Center presented itself, I had no idea of the tremendous impact it would have on my heart and how my life was going to change.

A neighbor and friend purchased the building at 1701 Edgewood Road and asked me if I knew of anyone that would be interested in buying the existing child care business because the owner was looking to sell. I decided to do some research and went to the Center. It was in a great location just off of Route 24 and about a half of a mile from I95. It had a wonderful huge, fenced play area for the children. The owner was a very nice, caring woman who explained to me how she lost her passion for the business. Having lived in Harford County for 18 years and driven by the Center regularly, I knew that it had changed hands several times.

That visit changed my life. A long time ago, I was a single mother and struggled to provide for my son. There were times that I worked two to three jobs at a time and often went to night school, just to make ends meet. Every day, I would drop my son off at a day care center or at the home of someone I knew so they could care for him while I worked or attended school. In my heart I wanted nothing but the best for him, but unfortunately, I could only give him what I could afford, and my options were limited.
